Fishing has been quite good this past couple of weeks, even though water temperatures are still running a bit high in the Beaver Tailwaters. The Corps of Engineers has been releasing water periodically, mixed with conduit releases, helping bring water temperatures down into the mid-60s.

Trout fishing has been very productive, with anglers finding success using Pautzke Fire Bait, Fire Eggs, and night crawlers. The fish have been somewhat spread out, so it pays to move around and cover water until you locate active fish.

Walleye fishing continues to produce in the tailwaters as well. Most fish are being caught using hard crankbaits fished in approximately 15 feet of water. As summer patterns continue to develop, anglers should focus on deeper structure and current breaks.

If you’re looking to fill a stringer with bluegill and sunfish, there are still opportunities to do so. However, once the generators come back online, many of these fish will likely push farther back into Table Rock Lake.

Whether you’re after trout, walleye, or panfish, now is a great time to get on the water. Be sure to visit www.buschmountainfishing.net for current conditions, fishing reports, and helpful resources before your next trip.
